Major Spoiler Alert: Tonight, Gotham is back with another killer new episode. So far we have seen the brutal rise of Cameron Monaghan’s (Shameless) Jerome, who is quite possibly a young version of The Joker. However, if tonight’s episode is any indication, Monaghan might be getting killed off. The episode, titled “The Last Laugh,” might imply that Gordon (Ben McKenzie) kills Jerome. Check the report below to judge for yourself.
The official plot synopsis for tonight’s all new episode of Gotham, titled “Rise of the Villains: The Last Laugh,” reads:
“Gordon and Bullock hunt a nemesis from the past, which leads to a standoff between Jerome and Gordon; and a magic show at a Gotham Children's Hospital gala results in a hostage situation.”
So far this season has been all about the potential Joker, Jerome, played by Shameless star Cameron Monaghan. Recenlty,Cameron spoke to Zap2it, about Jerome and the Joker:
“He causes massive amounts of carnage. You see exactly how dangerous a personality like his could possibly be. We see allusions to a very great villain...It’s less of a he and more of an idea. It’s not about a man. It’s about the ideology of a man and what that represents and how it affects other people. I can say that by that ideology Jerome is very adept [at spreading it].”
Could Cameron have been implying that Jerome could die and the ideology of The Joker live on? Is tonight’s title an allusion to Jerome’s death? Are we reading too much into this? Let us know your thoughts on the subject in the comments section at the bottom of the page.
Be sure to tune into the all new episode of Gotham, tonight at 8:00 p.m. eastern on Fox.
