It looks like Whoopi Goldberg's tenure at The View could be drawing to a close a little sooner than the iconic comedian originally intended. According to the latest gossip news updates, things have gotten so volatile with the TV show's moderator in recent weeks, that the producers are considering not having her back after the 2015 holiday break. In a related story, it looks like Rosie O'Donnell's divorce is taking its toll on her soon-to-be ex-wife, Michelle Rounds. Word has it that Rounds was recently admitted to the hospital after what was believed to be a failed suicide attempt.
Although she has since done her best to try to downplay the supposed fight that went on between her and some unlucky producers of ABC's The View, it's now being rumored that Whoopi Goldberg may be leaving the TV show just a little bit earlier than previously suspected.
When recently asked by a TMZ cameraman on the streets of New York about her alleged "meltdown," Goldberg may have taken umbrage with his choice of words but didn't deny that some sort of kafuffle had definitely taken place:
"I don't do meltdowns; I am a grown woman.
"And I guess people can't just let me be me and do my job. Everyone wants to do by job -- no I don't have meltdowns...That's what little kids do."
Regardless of whether or not Whoopi's supposed altercation with new consulting producer, Candi Carter, over the Hot Topics meeting being moved to before Goldberg showed up in the morning constitutes a meltdown, an insider from The View told the Daily Mail that it looked like the powers that be were making moves that would assure there would be now more near-meltdowns in the near future:
"There's now a buzz backstage that ABC is going to let Whoopi work for the months of her existing contract until December and then not have her return after the holiday break."
Far more upsetting than Whoopi's potential sacking from The View, however, is the sad news that Rosie O'Donnell's soon-to-be ex-wife, Michelle Rounds, supposedly tried to kill herself.
The secret source in the latest October 12, issue of OK! Magazine claims that Michelle, who was said to have been rushed to the hospital after reportedly downing pills and wine in a hotel room near her house, seemed to be having an especially hard time dealing with Rosie's new relationship with Tatum O'Neal before the tragic incident:
"The divorce has been painful enough, but the fact that Rosie has moved on has made it even harder for Michelle."
What do you think about the idea of a Whoopi free View?
Is ABC making a huge mistake purging the panel of one of its most familiar faces?
Or, is it about time Goldberg went on to do other things?
