Some say he was in a car crash, other claim a drug overdose, and worst of all some reports claim that Daryl Dixon was written off the show. Check out the report below to see the latest fake rumor being passed around as real for 2015.
According to Mediamass, a new Facebook page poped up briefly, named R.I.P. Norman Reedus. The post allegedly posted a faux obituary for Reedus, reading;
“At about 11 a.m. ET on Saturday (September 26, 2015), our beloved actor Norman Reedus passed away. Norman Reedus was born on January 6, 1969 in Hollywood. He will be missed but not forgotten. Please show your sympathy and condolences by commenting on and liking this page.”
Reports of Norman Reedus’ death or Daryl Dixon’s demise are fairly regular events around this time every year. There is even a Snopes page dedicated to Reedus rumors. The Snopes page reports on the origins of the rumors of Reedus being fired:
“Shortly after the airing of the fourth season finale of AMC's popular zombie-themed TV drama The Walking Dead on 30 March 2014, an event that drew an estimated audience of 15.7 million viewers, word began to circulate that actor Norman Reedus, who portrays the character of Daryl Dixon in that show, had just been fired after a disagreement with producers and would be replaced in his role by another actor in the upcoming season.
“There was no truth to the rumor, however. The claim appears to have originated with an April Fool's Facebook post featuring a payoff that lured victims into a variant of rickrolling.”
