Legendary Pictures and Universal Pictures are a bit of a lovers spat, and like most breakups,it’s the kids are suffering the most. Guillermo del Toro’s planned 2017 follow up to, the Legendary/Warner Bros venture, Pacific Rim has been put on the back burner for now. The Charlie Hunnam film is not the only Guillermo del Toro project to get scraped. Earlier in the year it was revealed that the highly anticipated Silent Hill reboot, featuring The Walking Dead’s Norman Reedus was canceled for the time being.
If you were hoping to see Charlie Hunnam and Rinko Kikuchi standing side by side in a Jaeger anytime soon, than you are out of luck. New reporters are claiming that the film has put on hold, reportedly due to Legendary Pictures’ recent falling out with Universal.
This isn’t the only Guillermo del Toro project to be canceled this year. It was announced earlier in the year that the new Silent Hill game, starring Norman Reedus’ was a no go.
Norman Reedus addressed the cancellation on Twitter, writing:
“Super bummed about this was really looking forward to it. Hopefully it'll come back around. Sorry everyone.”
Well at least we still have Guillermo del Toro’s Justice League Dark movie to look forward to….Don’t we?
