The Green Bay Packers will welcome the Seattle Seahawks this evening in NFL action. What is a reasonable final score prediction for this Week 2 game?
Aaron Rodgers and the Packers have a bit more to prove in this game and are hoping to revenge their tough NFC Championship game loss from last season. Green Bay should have been on their way to the Super Bowl, but a couple of costly mistakes allowed the Seahawks to win the football game. Tonight is about getting back to the top of the NFC for the Packers and there is a lot of pride on the line.
Seattle is coming off of an embarrassing Week 1 loss against the St. Louis Rams. Russell Wilson and Marshawn Lynch saw Green Bay's defense struggle in a big way against the run last week in Chicago and are ready to exploit the defensive issues that the Packers have. They are also looking to prove that they are still the team to beat in the NFC.
Perhaps the biggest question mark for Seattle is whether or not their secondary can rebound from last week. They are trying to figure out how to be the "Legion of Boom" that they have been for the past few seasons without Kam Chancellor, who is in the middle of a contract holdout. That is easier said than done and the Packers are going to do everything they can to exploit the secondary issues that Seattle is dealing with.
That being said, both of these teams are more than capable of winning the Super Bowl this season if they play to their full talent and potential.
There is no question that the Packers and Seahawks appear to be equal on paper. They both have great playmakers on both sides of the football, but the Packers do have the advantage of playing at the friendly confines of Lambeau Field this evening. Having that home advantage is huge for the Packers and could be exactly what they need to get past Seattle this time around.
Jordy Nelson went down with a torn ACL this past offseason, which many expect to hurt Green Bay in a big way. That hasn't happened, however, as James Jones stepped up after being signed just before the regular season and had a huge week against the Bears in a big victory.
Needless to say, Sunday Night Football tonight is going to be a lot of fun and will come down to the wire. It isn't likely that either team will blow the other out. Green Bay simply has the advantage of playing at home and the issues with Chancellor's holdout are still very much alive for Seattle.
Expect to see both of these teams leave everything they have on the field, but if Green Bay takes care of the football and plays to their full potential they should come away with a huge victory.
