This week Scream: The TV Series airs its Season 1 finale, where the killer will be revealed. However, it is bound to be a sad moment for viewers. Horror mastermind Wes Craven passed away over the weekend. Now, Scream co-showrunner Jill Blotevogel is opening up about the loss of one of the genre's greatest talents. A talent that will surely be remembered for a long time to come.
The official plot synopsis for this week’s new episode of Scream: The TV Series, titled “Revelations,” reads:
“In the Season 1 finale, Emma tries to save a loved one and also learns the identity of the killer.”
Original Scream director and Scream: The TV Series executive producer Wes Craven passed away on Sunday at the age of 76. Craven had been battle brain cancer.
Scream co-showrunner Jill Blotevogel reached out to The Hollywood Reporter to talk about losing the horror icon:
"We were totally blind-sided. He has been such an incredible influence on us and essentially since I’ve been working on this series for a year and a half, I just realized that without Wes, I would have been doing something very different with my life. He made this possible and to lose him, I don’t know. I just think the world in general has lost some amazing entertainment to come...
"I wanted to see what he was going to keep doing and that is another thing that is striking me. He created the horror that defined a lot of people’s upbringing; a lot of people who are making horror right now learned everything at his knee. The loss, we’re still processing it. I’m ticked off at the world. I want to know what else he had planned and what else he was going to make. Seventy-six, that’s a good age but you could just tell he had a lot more to do."
Craven’s legacy will certainly live on and his presence will be missed.
