Bill Murray Talks ‘Ghostbusters’ Return: Dan Aykroyd on Paul Feig’s New Female Cast

Bill Murray has made no secret of his hesitance to reprise his role as Dr. Peter Venkman in the Ghostbusters franchise. So it was a very pleasant surprise for fans to learn that Murray was going to appear in Paul Feig’s all new female centric reboot. Check out the report below to find out why Murray decided to return and what Dan Aykroyd has to say about the new cast.

Bill Murray recently spoke to Vulture about his Ghostbusters cameo and why he decided to appear in the film:

“You know, they were incredibly nice to ask me, and I really enjoyed being there. They have such a jolly group, and they are going to have great success with this project. I didn’t want to overshadow [them] or anything, and I feel really good about it… I like those girls a lot. I mean, I really do. They are tough to say no to. And Paul is a real nice fellow.”

Bill Murray’s recently comments are not surprising considering that her previously named Kristen Wiig and Melissa McCarthy as part of his dream cast, The Toronto Star:

“I’m fine with it. I would go to that movie, and they’d probably have better outfits, too… Melissa would be a spectacular Ghostbuster. And Kristen Wiig is so funny -- God, she’s funny! I like this girl Linda Cardellini (Mad Men) a lot. And Emma Stone is funny. There are some funny girls out there.”

Dan Aykroyd is also in full support of the new cast, telling Sirius XM’s Ron Bennington,(via The Interro Bang):

“I’ve got three daughters, so I’m all for female empowerment. [Feig] establishes the voices beautifully in these characters. Now of course, he’s got masters playing the roles for him, so this is going to really work in our favour for the third movie.”
