They may not have technically been a couple for the past three years or so, but Russell Crowe doesn't seem to see any reason that he can't back together with his estranged wife, Danielle Spencer. According to the latest gossip news updates. The Gladiator star has convinced himself that there is still a chance his eventual ex-wife will take him back, instead of preparing for divorce. While it was accusations of cheating that reportedly led to their split, Russell claims that he has abstained from dating since their breakup in order to protect their two children from the trauma.
After more than a decade of seperating and getting back together, word has it the Danielle Spencer is ready to go ahead and officially call it quits with her Hollywood husband, Russell Crowe, but the 51-year old star of L.A. Confidential is said to still be holding on to the idea that they can still get back together.
One source in the latest August 31, issue of OK! Magazine claims that in spite of all they have been through, Russell just isn't ready to let Spencer go:
"She wants to end on civil terms...[but Russell] refuses to lose her again.
"I doubt she will ever take him back."
Russell explained his philosophy on remaining single throughout his estrangement with his wife on the Graham Norton Show last April.
According to the would-be family man, it makes no difference whether he reconciles with Spencer or not -- Crowe stays true to his wife for the sake of their kids (via Woman's Day):
"I have the responsibility of my two boys and I don't want them thinking anything other than that their mum is the most perfect woman in the world.
"I don't want them to see me in another relationship with someone not their mother. It's not something I need or want them to have to deal with at the moment."
What do you think about Russell and Danielle's marriage arrangement?
Would it be better for their sons if they just ended things as peacefully and painlessly as possible instead of spread their split out over years?
Or, is Russell doing the right thing in making the sacrifices for his son while he still can?
