It looks like ABC's plan to overhaul The View hasn't worked out so well for the network after all. Since relaunching in the new studio for Season 18, everyone has left the cast save for Whoopi Goldberg. According to the latest gossip news updates, Rosie Perez left even more frustrated and upset than Rosie O'Donnell, after supposedly being forced to apologize to Kelly Osbourne, who likened Latino's to "toilet cleaners" during one episode of the show. Being that as it may, Nicole Wallace recently explained that she was pretty surprised that the producers never made an effort to mend things with the well-respected actress, but not near as taken aback as when she found out she had been fired through the an article she read in Variety.
While the producers at The View have never really been known for having a healthy relationship with the stars of the show, reports that Rosie Perez left in a blaze of glory after a shouting match centering on her having to apology to Kelly Osbourne on air for a racist comment she mad about Latino's cleaning toilets still have some folks wondering what exactly is ogign on down there at ABC.
One behind the scenes source that MSN, spoke to claims that after they all finished filming, Perez took the producers aside and really let them have it with both barrels:
"She and the ABC executives had it out. She was yelling at them at the top of her lungs that their demands were disrespectful.
"They were telling her that she better do exactly as they said. It was an ugly scene and Rosie was crying uncontrollably and outraged."
While some sources at E! News question the exact timing of Rosie's planning to leave and her supposed backstage blowup, former co-host, Nicole Wallace, explained that the most shocking part about Rosie's exit, was that the powers that be at ABC were actually dumb enough to let it happen.
The Republican commentator told Variety that she was kind of befuddled that the producers seemed to think someone like Perez was so dispensable:
"She wanted to leave and they respected that. But I'm surprised they didn't try to find some way to keep her on the show.
"They are not going to find anyone better than her. When actors came in, they all wanted to meet Rosie Perez and Whoopi."
As shocked as Wallace was by ABC's perceived blunder in letting Rosie Perez leave -- with a chip on her shoulder no less -- Nicole says she was even more blown away by the network's decision to let her find out she was being let go in the press, instead of giving her a phone call or sending an email:
"I loved the job. I had no plans of quitting. I think I thought that I would learn somewhere other than Variety that I'd been fired. It shattered my naïveté about television. Listen, it's all fair.
"I wasn't wronged by anybody. But I was surprised to learn in the press about their decision not to bring me back."
What do you think about ABC reportedly treating their talent so poorly?
Should the producers at The View remember that being in charge doesn't stand in the place of good manners?
Or, should the ladies of the cast just come to terms with being treated like showbiz commodities?
