Mariah Carey Denies James Packer Engagement; Nick Cannon Saves Tiger Beat?

While all the supermarket tabloids seem deadset on getting out the news that Mariah Carey already has plans to marry her new boyfriend, she doesn't seem to know anything about it. According to the latest gossip news updates, the "Hero" singer acts like she doesn't know what people are talking about when they ask about her presumed engagement to billionaire James Packer. Meanwhile, Mariah's soon-to-be ex-husband and America's Got Talent host, Nick Cannon, is out of the hospital and once again making business moves. Despite being sidelined by sickness a few days ago, the Wild N' Out showrunner has joined with several other high-profile investors to try to save failing tween magazine, Tiger Beat. Nick and his partners are reported planning to bring the 50-year-old periodical into the new millennia.

For weeks the Hollywood rumor mill has been churning out report after report that has James Packer seducing Mariah Carey with the idea of a billion dollar wedding, but it seems that Mimi may not have gotten the message.

Despite all the stories that Mariah was already engaged, the mother of two seemed absolutely perplexed by one recent TMZ cameraman's inquiries regarding her getting remarried:

"What...are you talking about?"

While no one but James and Mariah seem to know what is going on in her personal life, Carey has a brand new business prospect on the horizon in the fall reports People.

Apparently, Mariah will soon be able to add director to her resume alongside highly accomplished actress-singer-songwriter:

"The Grammy winner is set to make her directorial debut on the Hallmark Channel's Mariah Carey's Christmas Project, which will start shooting in October and screen in December as part of the network's Countdown to Christmas."

Mariah isn't the only one making plenty of new career moves since first announcing her split from Nick Cannon several months ago -- her ex is also said to be venturing into new forms of media.

Cannon, along with several other backers ranging from pro-baller Kevin Durant to the Daily Mail, is stepping in, reports the New York Times, to try to save teen magazine Tiger Beat from going under:

"A group of 17 investors recently raised $2 million to buy and revamp the magazine, giving new life to a publication that had lost much of its sheen.

"The goal: turn the glossy magazine into a media empire."

Nick had better get started on making all the money he can if he ever intends to compete with the $4-plus billion net worth of his kids' potential new step-dad.
