Despite a year of turmoil that has seen three departures from the band, all is not gloom and doom in the world of EXO. In fact, rumors of their demise have been grossly over-exaggerated, and they are sitting pretty atop the charts, continuing to defy everyone. No further proof is needed than to say the music video for their hit single "Call Me Baby" was the most viewed K-Pop music video the first half of 2015.
In spite of the spat of negative press, EXO have become all the more popular. The two versions of "Call Me Baby" to this point have attained over 53 million page views, and that is just since March 31. However, it should not come as a surprise. In an era more geared towards the single, EXO sells albums. Their debut, XOXO, has sold over two million albums and, according to The Inquisitr:
"Add in the combined sales of their other album, Exodus, as well as the repackaging of the two albums, Growl(repackaging of XOXO) and Love Me Right (repackaging of EXODUS), and the numbers are increased even more. EXO also won over 30 trophies from various music shows throughout 2015."
As well, EXO's latest album Exodus made MTV Iggy's Top 25 albums of the first half of the year. According to the site, "Exodus reflects the triumphant journey of the 10-member Korean-Chinese group EXO, whose tribulations have included lineup changes." Elaborating further, "Exodus plays like a tribute to '90s American pop, with the exception of the title-track."
As always, leave a comment in the box below, maybe tell us who your favorite K-Pop bands are. Is it EXO or maybe Big Bang, or do you go off the beaten path? Is there an undiscovered jewel that everyone should be made aware of? Let us know about that or whatever else is on your mind.
