G-Dragon Talk Show Appearace: Big Bang Differs From K-Pop Rivals EXO & SHINee

On the Korean talk show News Room, Big Bang front man G-Dragon came on to talk about a wide variety of subjects. Things like his future and his thoughts about his upcoming mandatory military service were discussed, but, when the topic turned to rivals EXO and SHINee, G-Dragon wasn't in the mood to play nice. No, instead he went in full smack down mode. Anchor Sohn Suk Hee asked G what he thought was the difference between his band, Big Bang, and rivals EXO and SHINee.

"What sets us apart is that we make our own songs, which appeals to the public, and the public likes the songs," was G-Dragon's response. Yes, he just did say that. The host tried to play peacemaker and reminded G-Dragon that his words may make the other band's fans angry. G-Dragon was non-plussed. "They might get mad, but it's true, so there's nothing that can be done about it."

G-Dragon then talked about the importance of writing his own songs. He has always made and recorded his own songs and knows no other way to do it. As expected, G's words set the internet and rivals ablaze in an online war. EXO and SHINee fans were quick to say,"Hey, wait a minute. Our guys write, too."

Further infuriating SHINee fans is the disrespect they felt G-Dragon paid to SHINee lead singer Kim Jonghyun's writing process. A regular contributor to the band's material, Jonghyun has also written songs for Lil Kim.

Wrong or not in his assessments, G-Dragon was right in one regards. Even though the factual part of his claims are blatantly false, he started people talking and got the spotlight focused directly on his band. As well, in an industry where the bands are somewhat disposable, he drew a distinction that everyone remembers.

Tell me what you think. Who is your favorite K-Pop band?
