Matt Stone and Trey Parker Talk ‘South Park’ Cancelation After 18-Years on TV

It is hard believe that South Park has been on TV since 1997. During its 18-year tenure the show may lost a little steam, but has managed to main culturally significant. Recently, creators Matt Stone and Trey Parker opened up about the evently end of the series, and their nearly 20-year-long battle with cancellation.

Trey Parker and Matt Stone recently spoke with IGN’s Ryan McCaffrey during the E3 video game conference, where Parker opened up about how long he plans to keep South Park going and how it will end when the time comes:

"I think it's going to end with a fizzle, for sure.I think it's just going to end with some dud, and we're gonna go, 'F**k this, man,' and walk away."

For his part Matt Stone agrees, adding:

"Some sort of whimper. Either drop the mic, get sued, get thrown off television -- something like that."

Parker and Stone have been waiting the cancellation axe for years now, as Parker adds:

"Yeah, we've thought that for 18 years. We're like, 'Okay, well, they're going to cancel us, for sure!' We've been waiting to get canceled for 18 f**king years."

Stone went on to add that they have no plans of stopping the show anytime soon, and will have to be dragged off the air when the time comes:

"We won't stop until we get canceled," Stone said. "We're renewing. They have to f***ing cancel us, g*dd*mmit!"
