It is official. Garrison Keillor the long host of A Prairie Home Companion will be stepping down. Keillor has handpicked his successor, Mandolin Man, Chris Thile. Thile recently confirmed that he will be taking over the NPR radio broadcast/live show. Keillor will stay on part time to insure a smooth transition and possibly lend his voice to his character Guy Noir.
Garrison Keillor recently announced that he was leaving A Prairie Home Companion, telling The Burkshire Egale:
“Chris is my man. and I’m eager to stay home and read books. But of course, I’ll do whatever needs to be done to assure an easy transition -- sing, dance, do ‘Guy Noir,’ talk about my home town, whatever is required.”
Chris Thile has now confirmed that he will in fact become the full time host of A Prairie Home Companion, telling Mandolin Cafe:
“Everything Garrison said is true, and I’m really excited.”
Chris Thile is also the singer of the progressive acoustic trio Nickel Creek and is currently on tour with The Punch Brothers.
