New HBO ‘Brink’ Episode Spoilers: Tenacious D Jack Black Talks Dark Turn

Tonight, HBO’s all new human error war comedy The Brink is all new. The new show star’s Jack Black in a much darker role than we are use to seeing. Recently, the Tenacious D frontman opened up about his return to the spotlight.

The official plot synopsis for tonight’s all new episode of The Brink, titled “Half-Cocked,” reads:

“Alex is captured by Zaman's soldiers and subjected to intense interrogation when they suspect he's working for the CIA. Meanwhile, Walter begs the president to delay the air strikes until he can reach someone in the Pakistani government; and Zeke and Glenn continue their high-stakes mission under extreme circumstances.”

In the new show, Jack Black plays against type, stepping away from his lovable roots. Recently, Black opened up to Rolling Stone about what made him decided to tackle a darker role:

"Maybe that's just what turns me on now, It feels more realistic to me, more like what people are really like. There was a flip-flop. I was the guy who hated weddings, thought they were all tedious and maudlin. And now I cry my eyes out at weddings, but I only want to play really shitty people. Maybe having kids transformed me: Maybe you want to play the thing you're not."

Be sure to tune into the all new episode of The Brink, tonight at 10:31 p.m. eastern on HBO.
