It looks like one White House centric TV show is just not enough for House of Cards actor Kevin Spacey, though he doesn't plan to do all the heavy lifting in the new series he's developing through his Trigger Street production company. According to the latest gossip news updates, Robin Wright's onscreen husband has added Fox News' Megyn Kelly to help bring his new project, The Resident -- said to conceived as a sort of Netflix' House of Cards meets Downton Abbey -- to fruition. In a related story, Harvey Keitel is said to be suing E*Trade for ultimately choosing Spacey as the face of their new ad campaign, after first signing a contract with the Mean Streets icon.
While it they might not seem like the most likely of business bedfellows at first glance, word has it that Kevin Spacey and Megyn Kelly are joining forces to hopefully get his new TV series, The Resident, off the ground.
According to The Hollywood Reporter this will mark the first time that Kelly has ever been involved with working on show that didn't revolve around her discussing that day's current events:
"The Resident, which reads like a cross between Downton Abbey and House of Cards, follows the relationships between White House residence staffers and the various First Families that come into the famous address over the course of several administrations.
"And, in her first scripted effort, Fox News anchor Megyn Kelly is on board as a co-executive producer."
In addition to their probably disagreeing on most social issues, Kelly's coming on as a producer to a political drama seems a little odd given her total lack of interest in politics.
Despite her very prominent position at Fox News, Megyn told Vanity Fair earlier this year that she really couldn't care less about the ins-and-outs of the Washington machine:
"I don't feel passionately about politics.
"I'm not a political person. Is it easy for me to get fired up about someone's position on climate change? No, it's not.
"On most of these issues, I can see both sides."
Word has it that Harvey Keitel and his lawyers couldn't care less about E*Trade's side of the story in regards to their decision to dump him at the last minute in order to hire Frank Underwood.
The legendary Pulp Fiction actor's lawyer claims that the online stock trading company signed a $1.5 million deal with Keitel to make three commercials, only to call back the very next day to say they changed their minds (via NY Post):
"Without any justification or excuse, E*Trade refused to proceed forward with the contract entered into with Mr. Keitel."
Maybe, Spacey can just cast Keitel as Secretary of State or something in his new show and everyone can just call it even.
