It has officially been confirmed that William Hurt is returning to the Marvel MCU as General Thunderbolt Ross. Hurt will be reprising his role from The Incredible Hulk in the upcoming star-studded film, Captain America 3: Civil War. Recently, Hurt teased that this time Ross will be “much different.” Does that mean that we could be seeing The Red Hulk in the near future?
Recently, William Hurt spoke with IGN about his return to the Marvel Cinematic Universe in Captain America 3: Civil War:
"I loved playing Ross the first time because I was able to try and create an ego as big as the monster he was chasing. And one that was as warped too. [Ross in Civil War] is different because it's a different style. It's a more modernized style. And what they've done is they've taken a character who was the Ross from the older film and made a new version. This is a much newer Ross. A much different Ross. And I liked that a lot. I haven't had a lot of time to understand it, but I'm doing the best I can. And they haven't fired me yet."
In the comics Ross becomes his own version of The Hulk, known as The Red Hulk, a rival of The Hulk’s who later becomes an Avenger.
What do you think about William Hurt’s comments? Do you think that we will see General Ross transformer into The Red Hulk? What Marvel character are you looking forward to seeing the most in the new movie? Let us know your thoughts in the comments section at the bottom of the page.
