Lately the internet has been abuzz with rumors that Asa Butterfield or Tom Holland will land the role of Spider-Man in Marvel’s Captain America 3: Civil War. However, we might not have to wait until 2016 for Marvel to make the Web Slinger part of the MCU. A new rumor suggest that Spider-Man may make his MCU debut this July by being mentioned in Ant-Man.
According to Latino Review, Ant-Man could feature some mention of Spider-Man or even a cameo from The Green Goblin Norman Osborne.
The website is reporting on an unconfirmed rumor that the film’s villain, Darren Cross (Corey Stoll), A.K.A. Yellowjacket will try to sell Ant-Man tech to OsCorp.
If the rumors are true, this could help to lay the groundwork for Spider-Man to appear in Marvel’s Captain America 3: Civil War.
Previously Marvel’s president of production, Kevin Feige, revealed to Crave Online that the new Spider-Man reboot will not include an origin story:
“It will not be an origin story. But, with great power comes great responsibility. It is inherent to who his character is. But we want to reveal it in different ways and spend much more time focusing on this young high school kid in the MCU dealing with his powers.”
Feige went on to add that Spider-Man has already started slinging webs in the MCU without anyone taking notice:
“There is a young kid [already] running around New York City in a homemade version of the Spider-Man costume in the MCU, you just don’t know it yet.“
