Weather Stops Production of 'Jagga Jasoos,' Another 'Bombay Velvet' for Ranbir Kapoor?

There will finally be a chance for the public to see Bollywood's most famous boyfriend and girlfriend, Ranbir Kapoor and Katrina Kaif, together and on the big screen. They will be appearing together in the spy comedy Jagga Jasoos. The publicity of the two doing a movie together can only be good for Ranbir, who after the debacle of Bombay Velvet and the accompanying negative press coverage, is in need of positives. Only problem, the weather doesn't seem to be cooperating. Bad weather and constant rain have put a halt on production and casting a pall over filming.

"Incessant rains in the city have made it impossible for Ranbir Kapoor and Katrina Kaif to report to the shoot," said a source to DNA.com "Though adequate measures were taken, waterlogging affected the shoot. The crew has been left stranded and with absolutely no respite from the rains, the shooting has been suspended."

The weather wasn't the start of the problems, but it has certainly made a bad situation worse. The film first ran into problems over scheduling, when needed actors scheduled dates didn't match up and script problems quickly followed. Then the entire film's structure had to be altered. It was envisioned as a big musical with conversational songs telling the story. However, seeing another film with that same structure forced the filmmakers to rethink their approach.

Another source told Bollywood Hungama.com, "They are re-doing most of the film...And Ranbir is very very tense. The same thing had happened with Anurag Basu's 'Barfi' where a lot of re-shooting had happened."

This is the last thing Ranbir wants right now, and it's exactly what he is getting. He must feel like the movie gods are against him at the moment. More than 60% of the film is likely to be reshot, further compounding problems. At this juncture, the question is, given this effort, will the movie pay off at the box office? Probably not.
