‘X-Files’ Gillian Anderson ‘Aquarius’ Boyfriend David Duchovny’s Dating Denial

With David Duchovny talking about getting so emotional just looking at the first new X-Files script that he is literally brought to tear,s it seems a little odd that Gillian Anderson's Aquarius boyfriend claims he doesn't understand why fans of the Fox TV show want to see the real-life Mulder and Scully start dating. According to the latest gossip news updates, however, the Californication playboy insists that, despite everyone's belly aching, he and The Fall actress never have and never will be anything other than close friends and colleges.

As hard as it may be to believe, Princeton and Yale alum David Duchovny seems to genuinely be confounded by the fervor of a particular sect of X-Files fans that long to see him one day announce his love for Gillian Anderson to the world.

During a recent interview with TVLine's Kimberly Roots the Californication star insisted that he had no idea why the onscreen love that Fox and Mulder share isn't enough to satiate the fanboys:

"The whole thing about Gillian and I dating is so weird. It's never happened, it's not going to happen, we're friends.

"I don't want to rain on anybody's parade, but no, it's not going to happen. It hasn't happened."

Duchovny went on to explain how frustrated it is that every time he and Anderson make any sort of public appearance together it's later used against them as hard evidence of a romantic affair:

"I see Gillian, I kiss her hello. She's my friend. If somebody gets a picture of that, if it's on stage and she comes up to sing with me, I'm going to kiss her hello.

"I wish the show would be enough. I don't understand why people want more from Gillian and I.

"I really don't."

It seems fitting then that David's character on Aquarius is just as thrown by future murder Charles Manson in NBC's new gritty crime drama about the serial killer.

While chatting with TVLine again earlier in the week, Duchovny admitted that his Sam Hodiak has no idea what the aspiring cult leader is capable of when he first comes across the charismatic killer in the new network series:

"Hodiak does not see him as murderer, for sure.

"He sees him as a punk, not even as a worthy adversary. He's a pimp. He's a con man.

"He's manipulating very young women and young boys.

"Hodiak knows exactly what Manson is doing and how he's doing it. It's not a big mystery."

Let's hope then that Sully and Mulder find love in at least one of the six new episodes, since it's apparently never really going to happen anywhere else.
