For weeks now the supermarket tabloids and internet gossip mongers have been spreading the rumor that Mariah Carey is dating her longtime friend Brett Ratner, after she was spotted hanging out with the X-MEN director several different times following her divorce from America's Got Talent husband Nick Cannon. Finally the Wild n Out star's wife is putting the nonsense to rest -- explaining that she has never made the mistake of sleeping with the Rush Hour visionary despite their many years of friendship. According to the latest gossip news updates, Canadian singing queen Celine Dion is super-excited to hear that Mimi and Jennifer Lopez also have Vegas residency scheduled this year. The Titanic icon even has advice for keeping their voices in tip-top shape in the dry desert climate.
Ever since they were seen vacationing with each other, Brett Ratner and Mariah Carey have been said to be secretly dating although the world famous director has gone out of his way to let it be known that he and Mimi are really just old friends.
Being that she must have felt the media wouldn't otherwise get the message, Mariah finally explained to E! News exactly what it meant to be "friends" and whythat all she and Ratner considered themselves (via Miami Herald):
"Because we've never been together intimately, in the biblical sense, that's why we still get along with each other
"Because Brett Ratner has been with everybody in Hollywood...almost?"
Being that Celine Dion has been with the same man for decades, she probably doesn't have a lot of advice to give Mariah when it comes to matters of the heart, but the 47-year-old Quebec native does have a few words of wisdom to share with Nick Cannon's wife going into her big Las Vegas residency.
During a recent chat with the Las Vegas Sun, the "My Heart Will Go On" crooner explained that the most trying thing about singing in Sin City night after night was having to get used to what the inhospitable climate does to your vocal cords:
"They've been in the business as long as me, so they know what to do.
"But they must pay special attention to the desert climate here. It's very difficult on the organs. They must keep their nose very moist with cans of saline."
According to Celine surviving the dessert heat also takes a couple of costly upfront modifications to your work and living spaces to make sure that your vocal instrument has a proper chance to rest between concerts:
"You just have to have as much humidity as possible.
"They must have a built-in humidifier system onstage and at home."
Of course, Mariah will probably just go the extra step of having one of her many house servants constantly blow pre-moistened air into her face 24-hours a day.
