For months now the supermarket tabloids have tried to paint Nick Cannon as being solely possessed by either his career or impending divorce from Mariah Carey. According to the latest gossip news updates, however, the America's Gat Talent host is going to dance for a full 24-hours straight in support of Red Nose Day and its goal of raising money and awareness for the poorest Americans among us. Cannon's soon-to-be ex-wife on the other hand is said to be focusing mostly on her Las Vegas Infinity tour and making sure her fully rider is met before she takes the stage to sing "Butterfly" for the millionth time.
You may not be completely aware of what Red Nose Day is or what it stands for, but that's why Nick Cannon is getting ready to dance around the clock May 20 -- to get the word out about America's poor.
The Red Nose Day Danceathon with Nick Cannon will air immediately prior to the May 21, 3-hour fundraising telecast that will include everything from Funny or Die videos to live comedy sketches, according to the network's news release (via UPI):
"With a focus on having fun, raising money and changing lives, the star-studded event will raise money for Red Nose Day to help lift children and young people out of poverty in the United States and in some of the poorest communities in the world."
Given were the money he'll be raising is going, Nick Cannon recently explained that he is more than happy to lend his time and name in support of such a noble charity:
"I can't wait to leave it all on the dance floor in the 24 hours leading up to Red Nose Day.
"I'm honored to participate in such an amazing event, and to help raise money for such a worthy cause."
Nick may have enough fame and fortune that he can afford to lend a little of both to a worthy cause, but Mariah Carey is in Las Vegas this summer trying to shore up what fame she has left before her fortune starts to feel the pinch.
One source with all the behind-the-scenes Infinity tour details explains in the May 18, issue of In Touch that Carey's currently driving her Caesar's Palace handlers crazy with her odd demands for the shows:
"Mariah had a list of things a mile long when she arrived.
"She was adamant that a private driver be available 24/7, and he could only respond to her if she asked a question; otherwise, no talking!
"She also needs a playroom for her kids and an unlimited supply of Fiji bottled water kept at room temperature for her herbal tea -- which she only drinks with a bendy straw!"
Let's hope that Mariah Carey gets some of Nick Cannon's goodwill and humanity in their divorce settlement.
