Mariah Carey and Nick Cannon Divorce News: Net Worth Nervous Wife NOT Dating Brett Ratner?

Mariah Carey has been accused of being a bit eccentric in the past but word has it that the "Hero" diva is acting downright paranoid now that she is getting divorced from her soon-to-be ex-husband, Nick Cannon. According to the latest gossip news updates, the Rockefeller Christmas Center croaker thinks that her entire personal staff may be conspiring with the America's Got Talent host to make sure he winds up with a sizable chunk of her net worth as well custody of their twins and has started firing folks on mass. In a related story, X-MEN movie director, Brett Ratner, has explained publicly once and for all that he is not dating the "We Belong Together" singer -- he's just directing the latest music video from Mariah's new album.

If it take a village to raise a child, it takes at least twice that many people to reportedly wait on Mariah Carey hand-and-foot, night-and-day, but the lingerie loving diva is said to be whittling down her personal staff at a breakneck pace as of late.

A source claiming to have all the behind-the-scenes details explains in the May 4, issue of Life & Style that the reason for the purge has to do with Carey's having convinced herself that everyone is secretly a Nick Cannon divorce double agent out to steal her money and kidnap her children:

"Mariah thinks Nick is using her people to dig up dirt on her, which he could then use to strong-arm her into offering a more favorable settlement.

"She thinks everyone is out to cause her harm, even friends and employees."

So, says the spy, Carey has started systematically letting people go, before they are even allowed the oportunity to betray her to husband:

"She believes they are all in cahoots with nick and are trying to prove that she is an unfit parent to 4-year-old twins Monroe and Moroccan.

"Mariah keeps accusing Nick of trying to hurt her...[but] he just wants to sign the divorce docs and be done."

With a reputation like that, no wonder Rush Hour director Brett Ratner wants the world to know that he is in absolutely no way romantically attached to the "Butterfly" singer.

During a recent chat with E! News, Ratner explained that not only were he and Mariah just friends, but the reason they had been spending so much time together was related to business -- not romance:

"I'm directing her video. I've been friends with her for 20 years.

"It makes me laugh actually...It cracks me up."

Hopefully, Carey will soon have her personal life as well as her career back on track and successfully out of the shadow of her upcoming divorce.
