Not only is Mariah Carey making some major moves in her music career, word has it that the "Butterfly" starlet is also looking for some big juicy new acting roles as well. According to the latest gossip news updates, the Rockefeller Center croaker is looking to join Terrance Howard and Taraji P. Henson on their hit new TV show, Empire. Carey's America's Got Talent husband, Nick Cannon, insists that he has no plans to turn their impending divorce proceeding into a salacious new tell-all. Amber Rose's new manager recently explained that he is thoroughly disappointed in the media circus that surrounding their split thus far -- wishing that that outlets would contact him before prinitng their silly stories.
Sure, Mariah Carey has signed a brand new recording contract on top of dumping her longtime publicist and agreeing to a Britney Spears'-esque Las Vegas residency, but even all that may not be enough for the business savvy music icon.
A source close to Carey and her business team claims in the April 13, issue of Life & Style that Mariah is hoping to get back into acting with a reoccurring role on the hit new hip-hop series, Empire:
"Mariah loves acting...[and] she'd love to play a diva who comes to blows with Taraji P. Henson's character, Cookie.
"She hasn't been offered an actual role yet, but it is only a matter of time.
"Mariah is perfect for the show."
To hear Nick Canon tell it, however, you should probably assume that everything you hear about them in the tabloids lately is an absolute lie.
During a recent chat with E! News, Cannon explained that he expected more out of the entertainment news sources that to just blindly repeat every ridicules story that comes across their desks:
"I'm so disappointed in the media.
"It's funny, even to see people that I know and respect kind of report rumors and just ridiculous stuff that comes from nowhere...You could have just called me and asked me.
"I guess it's like people go for the story and sensationalism instead of figuring out the truth
"I don't know anything about no tell-all books or anything like that."
So if you want to see Mariah Carey's top-notch acting anytime soon, then you'll just have to pop Glitter back into the Blu-ray per usual.
