Mariah Carey's singing career might have suffered a couple little hiccups during her disastrous world tour behind her less than popular last album, 'The Elusive Chanteuse', but the queen of R&B looked to be getting things back on track with the triumphal launch of her new Las Vegas residency yesterday. According to the latest gossip news updates, Carey's latest single, "Infinity" is said to be a real kiss-off to soon-to-be ex-husband, Nick Cannon. Instead of working on a retort in the recording studio, however, the ever-positive America's Got Talent star is focused on getting his new K-pop inspired kids show for Nickelodeon, Make It Pop, off the ground, instead of letting his impending divorce ruin his life.
Mariah Carey may not always know how to hit those high notes anymore, but she still has making an epic entrance down pat.
Upon making her way into Sin City to promote her new 18-date residency at Caesars Palace between May and June, the "Hero" singer was flanked by a fleet of giant trucks commemorating every hit she's had over her incredibly long career as a successful recording artist.
According to the eyewitness on hand for People, the number of promotional trucks always coincided very nicely with the amount of shows that Mariah has signed up to perform in Vegas thus far:
"The singer, 45, showed up in a 1936 pink convertible, trailing 18 mobile billboards listing all 18 of her No. 1 hits, from "Vision of Love" in 1990 through "Touch My Body" in 2008."
While Nick Cannon's almost-ex-wife is gearing up for her marathon run in the desert, the Wild N' Out jokester is busy promoting his new kids' show for Nickelodeon, Make It Pop.
When asked by Billboard why Nick thought the Korean K-pop aseptically inspired show would go over with American kids, Cannon pointed at that if it didn't, it would be the first time that has happened thus far the world over:
"I always say, 'America's last to the party.'
"Honestly. It's such a global phenomenon that I've witnessed over the years from traveling abroad. A few years back there was a girl group with a Nickelodeon movie called the School Gyrls, from that there was the Wonder Girls and that's when I was really introduced to Korean pop and thought, 'This is amazing.'
"I became a fan of the culture."
With that kind of obsession with youth, it's really no wonder that things didn't work out in the end between Nick and Mariah.
