Tonight, Marvel’s Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. is all new with the two-hour Season 2 Finale. If the Inhumans are the MCU’s versions of mutants, than Jiaying is their version of Magneto. Recently, EP Jeffrey Bell opened up about the comparisons between Skye’s Inhuman mother and the iconic X-Men villain.
The official plot synopsis for tonight’s all new episode of Marvel’s Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D., titled “S.O.S.,” reads:
“In the second-season finale, sacrifices are made by Agent Coulson and his team in order to get through a war, and relationships are permanently altered as a result.”
Recently, executive producer Jeffrey Bell spoke with Yahoo TV about Jiaying’s (Dichen Lachman) motives for going to war with S.H.I.E.L.D.:
“We didn’t conscientiously mimic [Magneto], but what they both have in common is a valid motive. Jiaying was ripped to shreds by people calling themselves S.H.I.E.L.D.
“I feel like her motive is really earned in the same way that Magneto’s is fairly earned. We always want our antagonists to have good motives, and I think giving it to Skye’s biological mother and father this year really helped us with that.
“We tried to make everything she says be true.”
