Although everyone seemed absolutely delighted that Cameron Diaz and Benji Madden had married in a secret Hollywood wedding ceremony at the beginning of the year, now the supermarket tabloids constantly seem to be rooting for the couple to divorce. According to the latest gossip news updates, the Sex Tape sex-symbol and the Voice Australia coach are in in couples counseling to try to save their damaged relationship. It's also been said more than once lately that the Mask actress' sister-in-law, Nicole Richie, is more than ready to split with Benji's Good Charlotte twin brother/bandmate Joel. in recent weeks, Lionel's candid reality star daughter has been making sure that she's been photographed running errands in LA sans her wedding rings and has even been rumored to have already spoken with an attorney about leaving her husband.
After spending most of her career talking about marriage like it was an autoimmune disorder, Cameron Diaz pulled a George Clooney back in January and married Benji Madden after only dating a relatively short time compared to her relationships with past boyfriends who must have never seemed worthy of being considered marriage material.
A source claiming to be close to the pair reveals in the May 18, issue of OK! Magazine that Cameron and Benji are well past the honeymoon phase just six months after tying the knot thanks to his changing her mind about starting a family only to later change his own mind on the subject as well:
"Cameron wasn't even sure she wanted children, but Benji convinced her.
"Now, he backtracking.
"To say Cam's upset is an understatement -- she doesn't have time for him to figure it out. She's 42."
According to the spy, however, the newlyweds are still very much dedicated to sticking together despite the new tensions in their marriage and have even gone so far as to attend couples' therapy to try to get to the bottom of some of their core issues:
"They love each other and want to make it work, but they're finding out they don't know as much about each other as they thought.
"They fell hard and fast and rushed into marriage...[but] they're seeking professional help because they want to fix things."
From the looks of her wedding ring boycott it seems like Nicole Richie's marriage to Benji's brother, Joel, is in far worse shape than her sister-in-law's.
After obtaining pictures from a recent outing together, the Daily Mail pointed out that Nicole Richie seems to be making a point of not wearing her wedding ring while out shopping with Cameron:
"On Saturday her delicate hands were on full display as she pushed her shopping cart and her left ring finger was very naked.
"While they may have been showing unity, Nicole was not wearing the symbol of her and Joel's unity -- namely her wedding ring."
Hopefully, Cameron and Benji can serve as inspiration for Nicole and Joel to try to work through their problems instead of giving up on their marriage entirely.
