Spoiler Alert: If you haven’t seen the Season 1 finale of Fox’s Batman prequel series Gotham, then you need to stop reading now and go watch it. During the explosive finale of Gotham on Monday, The Penguin’s plan to pit Gotham’s biggest crime bosses against themselves paid off. With Don Maroni (David Zayas) dead, Fish Mooney (Jada Pinkett Smith) likely dead, and Don Falcone (John Doman) retiring, The Penguin is the new King of Gotham City. Now, Robin Lord Taylor is opening up about what is in store Oswald Cobblepot in Season 2.
Recently, Robin Lord Taylor TV Guide about The Penguin being crowned the new King of Gotham:
“He's still a little naïve in terms of what this actually means. Is he going to be able to sustain this? I don't think he really knows all that it takes to be the king of Gotham. His whole M.O. has been to create chaos, but now he has to completely switch gears and basically keep chaos at bay."
Robin Lord Taylor went on to discuss The Penguin's relationship with Jim Gordon (Ben McKenzie) going forward:
"Jim is done with Oswald, but Oswald is not done with Jim. Penguin will be demanding more respect from Jim and if Jim doesn't deliver it, their friendship is essentially over. Even though Jim repaid his favor, their relationship is fundamentally undermined because Jim essentially betrayed him. All of the trust that he had in Jim is completely in question. He will obviously try to keep Jim close, but if Jim doesn't play along or play nice, it's on."
