Keri Russell and boyfriend Matthew Rhys' successful FX series, The Americans, about Russian spies living in stateside in the 1980s has already been renewed for another year thanks to the high-octane writing of Season 3. According to the latest gossip news updates, tonight's finale is going to be every bit as suspenseful as the episodes leading up to it. Costa Ronin, who plays KGB agent Oleg Burov on the TV show, has virtually guaranteed that 2015's show is going to have at least one or two surprises that no one will see coming.
Now that Matthew Rhys' character on The Americans has finally given his wife and daughter the okay to return to Russia to attend to a family crisis, fans of the show are on the edge of the seats wondering what is going to happen next.
Unfortunately, Costa Ronin, who plays KGB badass Oleg Burov, on the series, wasn't much help when he recently sat down for the interview in the May 4, issue of OK! Magazine.
While Ronin didn't give away any specifics about tonight's finale, he did promise that it certainly wasn't going to be some ho-hum visit with the folks back home:
"Well, I don't want to spoil anything, but I can say there are still a few twists and turns left -- and something big is going to happen."
Costa also seemed to inadvertently admit that Oleg will definitely not be interacting with Keri or her daughter during their time behind the Iron Curtain:
"It would be an absolute gift if we got to work together.
"[But] given the world that those characters exist in, it's quite unlikely.
"Oleg is a known KGB spy, and they are deep undercover as a suburban family...It would jeopardize their mission."
Whatever awaits Keri back in the USSR, her real-life fitness trainer and self-defense expert Avital Zeisler told E! News that she will be more than ready for it.
According to the Avital, he has been turning Russell into eye candy that can kill with nothing more than her bare hands at single a moment's notice:
"[Our workouts were all] based on real survival and hand-to-hand combat tactics that I would cover with any client.
"It is important that my students learn correct technique and concepts that are effective.
"I wanted her to come across authentic and showcase the combative training background that her character portrays in the show."
Sounds like it's a good thing that Rhys ultimately decided not to stand in his wife's way.
