It seems the FX producers decision to ratchet things up in Season 3 of the Americans has absolutely paid off with the TV show already being picked up for Season 4. According to the latest gossip news updates, it wasn't costar/boyfriend, Matthew Rhys that Keri Russell was going on and on about on Late Night with Seth Meyers, however, it was her former fellow Mouseketeer, Justin Timberlake. Russell told the former SNL writer that she loved to impress her friends with just how well she knows pregnant Jessica Biel's husband, whenever they happen to run into each other in public..
With the insanely thrilling plot twists and top-notch acting by series leads, Keri Russell and Matthew Rhys, it seemed absolutely inevitable that The Americans would be picked up for at least another season, but now the news is official.
Co-president of original programming of FX Networks and FX Productions, Nick Grad, told Variety that it would have been folly not to sign on for more episodes after seeing what the show was capable of in 2015:
"Remarkably, this season of 'The Americans' has achieved even greater acclaim than that of its first two seasons.
"The series has cemented it status with critics as television's best current drama and arguably the best show on TV, and we couldn't agree more."
When leading actress Kerri Russell stopped by to talk with Seth Meyers on Late Night the conversation seemed to center on the earliest stages of her career, however, instead of venturing into the more dramatic acting she is doing on the show today.
Keri even spent a portion of the interview explaining to Meyers why she considered herself the coolest out of all her Mickey Mouse Club peers (via US Magazine):
"MC is what the cool kids call it.
"I stand by this fact -- yes, it was like Christina Aguilera, Britney Spears, and Justin Timberlake and Ryan Gosling -- I like to remind everyone that they were 12 at the time.
"I was 17, I could drive."
Russell explained that the best long term benefit of being the absolute coolest Mouseketeer is that she gets to impress her friends by calling over former N'SNYC singer, Justin Timberlake, whenever they see each other in public:
"I see Justin occasionally. We were at some restaurant after an event and it was a big group of people and I saw him/
"I went up and started talking to him and I came back to my table and just blew their minds.
"They were like, 'How do you know Justin Timberlake!?'
"And I was like, 'Mickey Mouse Club.'"
Well...Matthew Rhys certainly isn't going to be able to compete with that.
