Former Community star and rapper Donald Glover (Childish Gambino) has made no secret of his desire to play Spider-Man in a feature film. Now that Andrew Garfield is out as Spidey and Disney is bringing the Web-Slinger into the Avengers, Glover just might get his chance. However, there have been rumors that Bate Motel star Freddie Highmore might be getting the part. Now it has been revealed that The CW is looking to cast a black actor as the all new Kid Flash/ Wally West in the second season of Flash. Could Glover be the perfect choice for the role?
Last year Arrow and Flash co-executive producer Greg Berlanti addressed a fan's question a black Flash, telling the crowd (via Comic Book.com):
"We made the Wests African-American so that we could ultimately head in that direction, absolutely. That's our hope."
Co-Executive producer Andrew Kreisberg also chimed in, adding:
"What's very cool is in the New 52 they hadn't reintroduced Wally [yet]. ..When they reintroduced Wally, they made him African-American. So now and forever, Kid Flash will be African-American."
Now, during this year’s Paleyfest panel, Greg Berlanti was asked about the appearance of Wally West during Season 2, where he said:
"That's our hope. And we've already been picked up for a second season so I think if we were going to do something like that, we would do it next season."
Community actor and rapper Donald Glover/Childish Gambino is a fan favorite to play Wally West. Glover has already expressed a strong interest in joining the superhero world as Spider-Man, and voices Ultimate Spider-Man Miles Morales on the Disney XD action cartoon.
