Spoiler & Rumors: It was recently announced that Disney and Sony are working together to reboot the Spider-Man franchise and bring the webslinger into Avengers 3 and Captain America 3: Civil War. A fan favorite for the casting of Peter Parker is Bates Motel star Freddie Highmore. Recently, Highmore addressed the casting rumor, and talk about the possibility of replacing Tobey Maguire and Andrew Garfield. Freddie Highmore also compared the new role to Norman Bates, who currently has the fortune of dating Olivia Cooke’s Emma Decody on the hit A&E series.
Freddie Highmore is a fan favorite for the role of Peter Parker/Spider-Man. Recently, Highmore opened up to IGN about the possibility of taking over the role:
"Obviously I would love to be considered.That would be fantastic. I guess we'll just see how things go."
Highmore was also asked if he had any reservations about taking on another iconic role:
"I guess that's always something you would think about. At the same time it would be such a fantastic role... As with Norman Bates, some people would always say, 'Oh, is it tricky playing Norman knowing he has this history behind him, and with Anthony Perkins' classic performance that you will always be compared to?' I guess similarly with the actor who ends up playing Spider-Man there will always be comparisons made with Tobey Maguire's great performance and most recently Andrew Garfield."
