During his short career, Blake Griffin has proven himself as one of the NBA's most talented players. Now, Clippers fans are on the edges of their seats, as they wait for their star power forward to return after elbow surgery. LA's recent loss of the Grizzlies clearly outlined how crucial Blake -- and his 6 foot 10 inches -- is to aiding Chris Paul and ensuring overall success. However, one source did point out that Blake's healing process is going well, and his comeback draws closer everyday.
Before his time as a professional, Blake played college ball for the University of Oklahoma.
As a Sooner, the up-and-comer was named Consensus National Player of the Year. Impressively, Griffin earned himself the first overall pick by the Clippers in the 2009 NBA Draft.
Now, Griffin is a 5-time NBA All-Star with 3 All-NBA selections. All in all, his contribution to the sport of basketball has made him a household name.
And now, according to Bleacher Report, his absence is really starting to hurt:
"No moment from the Los Angeles Clippers' 90-87 loss to the Memphis Grizzlies highlighted the importance of injured star Blake Griffin better than the one featuring Chris Pual, head down and hands on knees, gasping for air as the game slipped away in the final seconds. Paul played brilliantly, totaling 30 points and 10 assists in 39 minutes...in many ways, the Clippers played well enough to beat the Grizzlies. But covering for Griffin left them, and Paul too drained to finish the drill."
Predictably, Clippers' fans are chomping at the bit for any information pertaining to their hero's return. Finally, there is some good news to report.
According to the LA Times, Blake is healing well, and his return could happen very soon:
"Blake Griffin walked into the Clippers locker room before [the Clipper's] game against the Memphis Grizzlies missing something notable from his recent wardrobe...a big black brace. Griffin [recently] had the stitches removed...from his right elbow...His clunky brace has now been replaced by a nondescript black sleeve...The Clippers said there is no updated timetable for Griffin's return, but that he's expected to be out for at least another week."
