Spoiler Alert: Tonight’s all new episode of Fox’s Gotham features the villain the Red Hood, also known as the young Joker. However, this has confused some viewers who were lead to believe that Shameless star Cameron Monaghan was playing the young Mr. J. Was Monaghan really the iconic Batman villain or is just a red haired red herring?
Last week we saw Shameless star Cameron Monaghan as Jarome, a young man who may possibly be The Joker. Now, Gotham executive producer Bruno Heller has opened up to The Hollywood Reporter about the potential origin story:
“The great fun of this show is that it's the origin story of these famous characters, and with The Joker, the wonderful thing is that nobody knows where he came from and what his genesis was. What I can guarantee is that you have to follow that brilliant young actor Cameron Monaghan down the line, and you will see how this leads to the character we all know and love."
Bruno Heller latter added his excitement about getting to cast the iconic Rogues Gallery and rich characters from the DC Universe:
"One of the great things about this job is that you get to cast emerging young actors in iconic roles, as with Robin Lord Taylor as The Penguin. “
Heller went on to add that the main goal for the actors is to, “hit the mark, so audiences ask, 'Is that him? Could that be him?' in a way that will resonate for those who are keen Batman fans and a larger audience."
Be sure to check out the all new episode of Gotham, tonight at 8:00 p.m. eastern on Fox.
