Stephen Colbert Returns To TV on Fox ‘Mindy Project’ After Larry Wilmore Replacement: Grows Beard Before David Letterman ‘Late Show’ Takeove

The Nightly Show with Larry Wilmore is great, worthy of a full hour, but there still a giant Bald Eagle shaped hole in hearts that only Stephen Colbert can fill. Good news, Colbert is coming back to TV ahead his September Late Show with David Letterman takeover. Mindy Kaling recently tweeted a picture of the comedy king along and his amazing beard (Colbeard), teasing an upcoming appearance her Fox series, The Mindy Project.

Mindy Kaling recently teased Stephen Colbert’s upcoming appearance on The Mindy Project, tweeting a pic from the set along with the message:

“Coming soon to #themindyproject: Father Michael O'Donnell. @StephenAtHome”

Stephen Colbert is getting ready to take over reigns of the Late Show on CBS, after David Letterman steps down later this year:

CBS’ President and CEO, Les Moonves, praised Colbert during a press statement:

“Stephen Colbert is one of the most inventive and respected forces on television. David Letterman’s legacy and accomplishments are an incredible source of pride for all of us here, and today’s announcement speaks to our commitment of upholding what he established for CBS in late night.”

Stephen Colbert takes over the Late Show in September 8, 2015. The air date for his appearance on The Mindy Project is unknown.
