‘Arrow’ Producer Confirms ‘Star Trek’ Khan Connection in Manu Bennett Deathstroke Episode

Those Arrow writers sure are a bunch of nerds. Not only do they create one of the greatest comic book TV series to ever grace the geek culture, they also manage to throw in a few Star Trek references too. In fact, they are so good at it, that we tend to not notice them. Good thing the fine folks over at io9.com are nerdy enough to catch them and bring them to our attention. Last this week’s Wrath of Khan reference made by Manu Bennett Slade Wilson, A.K.A. Deathstroke.

If you saw this week’s Arrow episode and you caught the Wrath of Khan reference, congratulations! You can redeem your knowledge for five whole geek points.

io9 caught the connection, pointing it out in an article.

Arrow executive producer Marc Guggenheim commented on the io9 article, confirming the Star Trek reference.

“Thank you for getting the Khan allegory. Slade's line -- 'I'm going to leave you as you left me' -- is a deliberate reference to Star Trek II: The Wrath of Khan, one of my all-time favorite movies: (]I'm going to leave you as you left me, as you left her...'). You're the only reviewer/recaper I've seen who picked up on it.

"Now if only someone could catch all the "Wiseguy" references in the series, we'll be in business...
Best,

"Marc Guggenheim”
