André 3000 shared exciting news about his upcoming music projects.
Known for his work as a singer-songwriter and rapper, the former OutKast member André Benjamin surprised fans with his debut solo album, "New Blue Sun," released in November 2023.
Rather than his usual funk and jazz-influenced rap, the album featured instrumental flute tracks, featuring a new musical direction.
During a recent conversation with Amazon Music, André shared insights on his creative process and aspirations for the future.
When asked to describe his "André 3000 vision board" for 2025, he mentioned a focus on exploring new avenues for music creation and distribution without committing to a specific genre or style.
"New music for sure, new ways to distribute and express."
He added, "I don't wanna pinpoint what it is, but I just want to express more ... put it like that."
The latest news comes after his album has been recognized with nominations for Album Of The Year and Best Alternative Jazz Album at the Grammy Awards.
Speaking to The New York Times of the nominations, the "Hey Ya!" singer revealed, "We were trying to be nominated in some type of way for alternative jazz or ambient, possibly."
"But I was totally surprised by this. So yeah, it was super, super, super duper cool."
Venturing out of rap is something that André 3000 may have anticipated in his life. In an interview with GQ, he explained, "Sometimes it feels inauthentic for me to rap because I don't have anything to talk about in that way."
"And not to say that age is a thing that dictates what you rap about, but in a way it does."
"And things that happen in my life, like, what are you talking about? 'I got to go get a colonoscopy'. What are you rapping about? 'My eyesight is going bad'. You can find cool ways to say it, but...."
