Nine Inch Nails are in the process of releasing a new album, Hesitaton Marks. Now, right before they are set to tour, guitarist Adrian Belew quits.
On September 3, NIN is releasing their newest album, Hesitation. This will mark the band's eighth studio release.
Adrian Belew, newest member of the band, performed in studio for the upcoming release. He, however, will not be making the tour.
While Belew took part on the band's 2008 record, Ghosts I-IV, he didn't officially join the lineup until February of this year. A mere four months later, Belew is calling it quits.
Mr. Belew has issued the following statement:
"Hey folks...I greatly respect Trent and the music he makes. No one is at fault. [But] we both agreed it just was not working...NIN will do an amazing show and I am back where I belong: creating [my solo album] Flux."
This post has since been removed. The new statement says, simply:
"Concerning me being part of the 2013 Nine Inch Nails band, it didn't work."
The remaining member of Nine Inch Nails will begin touring shortly. On October 11, the group will be performing in Boston. Their venue of choice? TD Garden.
Their upcoming album has, largely, been kept underwraps. The only single so far released is "Came Back Haunted." The track has received fairly good press.
Reznor, who has been sober for quite some time, thinks it may be one of the band's biggest hits. Their U.S. tour begins September 1, for the Made in America festival.
