Jane Lynch, the undisputed star of Glee, won't be leaving the show anytime soon. She will, however, be divorcing her wife, Lara Embry.
The two met in 2009 at a fundraiser. Lynch was hosting the event and Dr. Embry was an award recipient.
They soon became inseparable and were wed on Memorial Day of 2010. Their marriage made national headlines, and the New York Times covered the wedding.
Lynch, 53, and Emry, 44, married in Massachusetts. There were just 19 people in attendance at the small wedding, including Emry's daughter.
Jane and Lara were head-over-flats in love with each other. Back in 2010, Lynch issued the following statement:
"It's just the greatest thrill in the world to find somebody that you want to be with every day. I never thought that this is something I wanted."
In retrospect, maybe she didn't want a traditional marriage after all. Though, in recent years she has grown quite close to Emry's daughter--making the divorce all the more difficult.
Jane had an active role in the child's education and even volunteered at school functions. While it is unclear if she will remain in this role, it seems unlikely.
Lynch issued the following statement today:
"Lara and I have decided to end our marriage. This has been a difficult decision for us as we care very deeply about one another. We ask for privacy as we deal with this family matter."
Jane is currently in New York, working on the Broadway production of Annie. She is reviving the role of Miss Hannigan.
Dr. Lara Embry was last seen in Florida.
