Simon Cowell got egged during Saturday's season finale of Britain's Got Talent. Natalie Holt, egger, comes clean about her dirty trick.
Holt rushed the stage during Adam and Richard Johnson's stirring performance of "The Impossible Dream." Holt, who is a violist, was supposed to be part of the orchestra.
She had other ideas in mind. With egg carton in hand and a smile across her face, she rushed the stage.
Security failed to respond in time, leading many to believe it was a ratings gimmick--as Natalie Holt was able to fire off five eggs before being escorted offstage.
Cowell, who has seen his share of antics (and delivered them), seemed relatively unphased by the event. He did, however, remove his suit, suggesting Natalie was successful.
This is not the first time someone has thrown something at Simon. When Cowell was a judge on American Idol, he berated a contestant named Jonathan Rey. Rey responded by rushing the judging panel, wrestling Simon's cup from his hands and dousing him in water.
In light of his recent attack, Simon responded with a bit of British humor, via Twitter.
Holt's antics, while utterly enjoyable, has garnered criticism. She released a statement after the finale:
"I want to apologize to Richard and Adam for overshadowing their performance. I've never done anything like this before and in hindsight I have realized it was a silly thing to do."
Holt's actions did overshadow this performance...as well as all others. Her great eggspectation breathed life into, let's face it, an otherwise lifeless finale.
That's definitely worth the price of a new suit.
