Jay Z has been battling rumors that Beyonce Knowles, who is allegedly pregnant with the couple's second child, is set to divorce the A-list rapper for quite some time now. Those rumors took a back seat this week, after Jay Z used a huge portion of his net worth on a popular music service.
Jay Z is known for his extravagant spending, but his latest purchase isn't for the faint of heart. Mr. Z recently threw down $56 million to acquire a popular music streaming service.
Although the deal hasn't finalized just yet, Rolling Stone tells readers that Jay is already receiving preliminary approval:
"After tackling the world of music, nightclubs, basketball team ownership and athlete representation, Jay Z has now set his sights on entering the gauntlet of high-quality streaming music. The New York Times reports that Jay Z has put in a $56 million offer for Aspiro, a Swedish company that controls high-quality streaming services Wimp and Tidal. The bid already receiving preliminary approval from the Aspiro board."
Although $56 million is a lot of scratch for people like us. It's virtually nothing for the hip-hop artist-turned-mogul.
According to CNN, Jay Z has a net worth of over $500 million:
"He might have 99 problems ... but an empty bank account isn't one. Jay-Z, 45, has a net worth of around $510 million...The 19 Grammy-Award winning rapper is involved in many business ventures and is the founder of entertainment company Roc Nation and the majority owner of 40/40 clubs...The hip-hop mogul co-founded Rocawear in 1999 and sold the rights to the clothing brand in 2007 for $204 million."
What do you think about the latest reports? Will Jay Z even miss the $56 million? Have you ever heard of Aspiro before Jay Z's involvement?
