Danica Patrick is easily the most popular woman in racing. This is most likely due to the fact that she is virtually the only woman in racing. Nevertheless, the fact remains. Now, analysts are claiming that the GoDaddy star only has a year left on her contract. This has raised many questions concerning Patrick's future. Also, her success comes, largely, from her advertising abilities. In turn, her estate recently took a huge blow after GoDaddy pulled her upcoming Super Bowl ad.
Before her career with Nascar, Patrick was widely known for her success in American open-wheel racing. In 2008, she won the Indy Japan 300. She is, actually, the only woman to be victorious in the Indy Car series.
In 2012, she debuted in Nascar's Nationwide Series. Yet, she didn't gain infamy until she started driving the GoDaddy's #10 Chevrolet. She has a huge fan base and is admired by men and women viewers alike.
All in all, she is a key part of her sponsor's advertising scheme.
In fact, a report by Yahoo Sports has suggested that her ability to draw a crowd is the only reason Stewart-Haas will try to re-sign her after this last year of her contract runs out:
"Danica Patrick's contract with Stewart-Haas Racing goes for just one more season. Is Stewart-Haas looking to move on at the end of 2015? Even if Patrick struggles compared to the other three teams at Stewart-Haas, she's still a marketing dream. Because of her popularity, financing the No. 10 car isn't an issue. If Patrick didn't have the ability to attract and keep sponsorship, the decision to keep her after the season barring a Chase berth would be a much different one."
A large part of her success is dependent on advertising; therefore, it is obvious that Danica is feeling the affects of her upcoming commercial being canceled. According to the Charlotte Observer, this year's Super Bowl will have to go on without the sexy GoDaddy star:
"After an outcry from animal rescue activists, GoDaddy.com...decided to pull its planned Super Bowl commercial which features puppies and NASCAR driver Danica Patrick. The ad...shows a puppy that falls out of a truck and then eventually finds its way back home. Upon arrival the puppy discovers its owner used GoDaddy to set up a Web site to sell the dog to a new owner. Patrick drives the van which carries the puppy to its new owner."
