Legendary Tony Stewart Buys Sprint Cup Series and Returns to Nascar After Absence, Leg Injury

Tony Stewart is one of the most feared racers in Nascar. Throughout his career, he has won multiple titles and competed in many different divisions. Recently, Stewart announced that he is pain free for the first time in two seasons, and he'll soon be climbing back into his number 14 Chevrolet. Also, Stewart will not be returning to Sprint Cup racing, so instead, he went out and bought the entire series.

Tony grew up racing go karts in Columbus, Indiana, and he was actually quite successful early on. At the age of 16 he won the World Karting Association Championship.

From there, he joined the United Midget Racing Association and the United States Auto Club (USAC). In 1995, he earned championships in all three of USAC's major divisions. The following year, he debuted in his first Nascar Busch Series.

Since then, Tony has been an unstoppable force within professional racing.

Impressively, he has three Sprint Cup Championships. For the last few seasons, however, Stewart has been absent due to injury. Well, according to Yahoo Sports, the wait is finally over:

"Tony Stewart, walking without a limp for the first time in 18 months, declared himself pain-free and never more eager to start a season. After a tumultuous two seasons that affected him physically and mentally, the three-time NASCAR champion said Tuesday his troubles are behind him and he finally feels like the old Smoke again. Stewart will climb back into his No. 14 Chevrolet for the first time since November"

For the last bit, there has been plenty of dirt on #14. According to ESPN, Tony also made headlines when he bought the Sprint Cup Series:

"Tony Stewart won't be back in a sprint car, by his own estimation, for 'a very, very long time.' But the three-time NASCAR champion can't bear to be away from the grassroots level of racing, and he has added another piece to his growing portfolio by acquiring the All Star Circuit of Champions Sprint Car Series -- one of the oldest, traveling sprint car organizations in the country. Stewart's latest acquisition is the first racing series he owns outright. Stewart also owns Eldora Speedway in Rossburg..."
