Imprisoned OJ Simpson In New LAPD Investigation, After ‘American Crime Story’ Announced

Some consider the OJ Simpson trial to be the most controversial and interesting case in the world of sports. In recent news, though, Simpson's name has been brought up in a different investigation. Sources are saying that the LAPD recently received a lead on the man who stole OJ's Heisman Trophy in 1968. These last few months have been hot for the Juice Man, after he was revealed to be the focus of Ryan Murphy's new show, American Crime Story.

What seems to go unnoticed when discussing OJ is that he actually had a fairly successful career in the NFL.

He played for ten seasons, and was the first player to rush for more than 2,000 yards. Even though several others have since broken his record, OJ was the only one to ever do so in a 14-game season.

In 1985, he was elected into the Pro Football Hall of Fame. After retiring from football, he held a career as a sports broadcaster and actor. However, as we all know, his life drastically changed in 1995 with the legendary murder case.

Even though he was eventually acquitted, much controversy still surrounds the details of the case and OJ's name in general. According to TMZ Sports, the former star's name was recently brought up in another investigation:

"[The LAPD] has gone to court to solve a crime involving [OJ Simposon]...but this one involves his 1968 Heisman Trophy. The trophy and OJ's famous #32 jersey went missing after someone dismantled the display case and made off with the goods. The cold case became hot in when a man called USC, saying he had purchased the trophy...and wanted to authenticate it, but cops didn't believe his story...they think he's the crook...So detectives went to court last month and got a warrant to track the guy down and nab the items."

Even though this one doesn't involve murder or multiple felonies, it still catches the eye of those who remember OJ and all that he has done. According to USA Today, the creators of American Horror Story aren't ready to forget Simpson yet either:

"Cuba Gooding Jr. will star as O.J. Simpson in a new series on FX titled American Crime Story: The People v. O.J. Simpson according to multiple reports. The show comes from Ryan Murphy, the man behind the wildly popular (and unsettling) American Horror Story series. American Crime Story is based on a book [surrounding the trial] and will view the events through the eyes of the lawyers involved in the trial."

Cuba's not the only celeb to sign up for the show. It has also been released that John Travolta will be joining the cast. Be sure to let us know your thoughts and opinions in the comment section below.
