2014 Heisman Trophy winner Marcus Mariota's future in the NFL seems to be a sure thing after this year's explosive season. However, his relationship with longtime girlfriend, Nicole Watase, is allegedly not so solid. Even though recent reports are saying the two like to unwind together after Mariota's games, reports from earlier in the year questioned if Watase would attend the All-Star's Heisman ceremony.
Mariota has had some impressive seasons under the Oregon Duck's banner. In 2012, he led Oregon to a 12-1 record and the #2 final season ranking while being named Pac-12 Offensive Player of the Year. Also, he was awarded the Offensive MVP award after 2013's Fiesta Bowl.
Mariota earned Pac-12 All-Conference honors for the second consecutive year after setting a Pac-12 record from the end of the 2012 season into the 2013 season by attempting 353 passes without an interception.
Now, of course, Mariota has earned the most prestigious award in college football, and according to Player Wives, it was questionable if Mariota's long time girlfriend would even show up to celebrate it:
"Will Marcus Mariota's girlfriend Nicole Watase be front and center at Saturday's Heisman ceremony? With the world tuning in Saturday night to see the biggest trophy in sports given out, we'll be looking for Mariota's other trophy...The anti-social (in that there's no Twitter, Instagram or Facebook for Watase), has kept a low profile, despite the rocketing profile of her longtime boyfriend."
On the other hand, TMZ Sports recently interviewed Byron Marshal who stated the two like celebrate alone after Mariota's games:
"Not all Heisman Trophy winners are alike ... especially when it comes to party habits -- just ask Oregon wide receiver Byron Marshall who says Marcus Mariota has a completely different playbook than Johnny Manziel when it comes to post-game celebrations...Marshall says Mariota likes to just chill and kick it with his lady ... which is interesting considering there were several reports that Marcus had broken up with his GF Nicole Watase ... his high school sweetheart who also goes to school at Oregon."
