Violence and football have always gone hand in hand, however, over the last year it seems that more and more players are showing they cannot be trusted to keep their emotions under control. There were several ejections from Giants Vs. Rams game on Sunday after an enormous, and tasteless, brawl ensued with only minutes less. Also, these professionals have clearly made a poor example for the younger generation, because a similar scuffle broke out during the BYU vs. Memphis game on Monday.
There is something about the sport of football that appeals to people of all ages. Whether it's the companionship, the competition, the show of pure skill or just a love of the game in general, there is something for everyone.
However, there is a darker side of the sport that is becoming more and more pronounced each day.
There has always been intimidation, vandalism and brawling between athletes and fans, but according to CBS Sports, the melee at the end of the Giants Vs. Rams game proves things are getting out of control:
"The Giants and Rams had been chippy for much of the first half and it finally came to a head just before the two-minute warning when Rams linebacker Alec Ogletree tackled Giants' wide receiver Odell Beckham out of bounds. When it was over, three players were ejected: Preston Parker and Damontre Moore were ejected for the Giants, and William Hayes was ejected for the Rams."
Moreover, we consider these professionals to serve as an example for those next in line, but in this case they prove that they cannot be trusted with such a responsibility. According to TMZ Sports, a similar skirmish broke out between BYU and Memphis:
"A moronic college football player stupidly removed his helmet during a brawl at the Miami Beach Bowl today ... and appeared to SWING IT at an opposing player. The fight broke out at the end of the BYU vs. Memphis game ... after Memphis picked off a BYU pass to clinch the victory. Things got chippy and the benches cleared. That's when Memphis player Chase Johnson (#68) removed his helmet and appeared to use it as a weapon -- swinging it at a BYU player."
