It would seem that the internet tabloids are doing their best to convince the nation that Today show's longtime co-host Matt Lauer isn't the nice guy he pretends to be in front of the cameras every morning. According to the latest gossip news updates, in addition to forcing ABC to fire Jamie Horowitz, Katie Couric's bestie left his wife and kids for the summer. Word has it that the notorious womanizer was more interested in cheating on Annette Roque, than he was schlepping all the way back and forth from downtown NYC to their home in the Hamptons in between things. Speaking of chasing tale -- fellow Today show co-host Kathy Lee Gifford has recently accused Bill Cosby of trying to take their friendship to the next physical level, but swears he didn't even come close to trying to rape her.
Apparently, not everyone is completely buying into Matt Lauer's nice guy image these days, regardless of how sweet the Today show host seems to be every morning on ABC.
According to the Radar Online, there are reports that Lauer just up and left his wife, Annette Roque, and their three boys all alone while he lived the life of a well-healed bachelor in New York City over the summer.
A source told that Radar that even though it was true that Matt had spent the summer in his apartment in the city, it had to do with reasons related to work -- not his wife:
"Yes, he was spending more time at the New York City apartment because Savannah Guthrie was out on maternity leave.
"Matt didn't take any time off for three months, and it was just easier for him to be in the city.
"He always tried to make it back to the family home in Long Island on the weekends."
Current Today show co-host, Kathie Lee Gifford, also has an accusation to add to the Bill Cosby serial rape rumors that have been inescapable as of late.
During a recent interview with the NY Daily News, she explained that once Cosby did come on to her as well, but it never escalated into anything too improper:
"I along with so many Americans and people around the world don't want these [accusations] to be true.
"I will admit towards the end of the tour [in the 70s] the last time I saw him he did try to kiss me.
"I said, 'No,' I said, 'Bill, we're friends.'
"He said, 'OK, good night," and I said, 'Good night.' I went into my room and he went into his room."
Nothing to put Matt Lauer's rumors of infidelity into perspective like a brief glance at the terrible sex crimes that the Cos even being accused off day-in and day-out.
