O.J. Simpson Murder Case to be Featured in FX Spin-Off; Can Cuba Gooding Jr Fill His Gloves?

Fans of American Horror Story are in for a treat, because creator Ryan Murphy's next project will be yet another "American" based thriller, but this time around it focuses on true crime, and its titled American Crime Story. The first season is meant to be a behind the scenes look at the infamous O.J. Simpson case, and how the ex-NFL superstar was able to obtain "reasonable doubt". Also, Academy Award winner, Cuba Gooding Jr. will star as the O.J.

Like American Horror Story, the spin-off will be an anthology series. This means, each season will feature a different story line, or different actors filling different roles. This way each season can almost be viewed as an individual miniseries. Also, this gives Murphy the ability to cover many different, hot button crimes in American history.

If it is anything like its predecessor, American Crime Story will be well received by the public and critics alike. The show is expected to be yet another homerun for the FX network. Also, Murphy is sure to surprise fans with his unique style.

According to Rolling Stone, American Crime Story will provide viewers with backstage pass:

"The 10-episode People V. O.J. Simpson - based on Jeffrey Toobin's book The Run of His Life: The People V. O.J. Simpson - will explore 'the behind-the-scenes dealings and maneuvering on both sides of the court, and how a combination of prosecution confidence, defense wiliness and the LAPD's history with the African-American community gave a jury what it needed: reasonable doubt.'"

As we all know without good actors, a good story or concept can still fail to deliver. However, according to TMZ Sports, Cuba Gooding Jr. is ready to ease those worries:

"Cuba Gooding Jr. is already stepping into OJ Simpson's Bruno Magli's ... and he's made up his mind about whether the Juice is guilty of murder. Cuba [said] he's excited about playing Simpson in Ryan Murphy's miniseries 'American Crime Story: The People V. OJ Simpson.' But to really nail the role, Cuba says he has to go all in -- which raises the million-dollar question. So, does that mean believing OJ did it ... believing he didn't ... or KNOWING he did, and then lying to yourself?"
