Mitt Romney Defends Canceled James Franco and Seth Rogen ‘Interview’ Movie on Twitter: Calls for Free Online Release After Sony Hack Threats [UPDATE]

A nasty attack by North Korean hackers and threats of violence have cause Sony to cancel the theatrical release of the new James Franco and Seth Rogen comedy, The Interview. Now, former Presidential candidate, Mitt Romney has come to the film’s defense, pleading with the studio to release the film online for free and ask viewers to donate to Ebola relief aid efforts.

Mitt Romney has come to the defence of James Franco and Seth Rogen. You read that right. The former Republican Presidential candidate is pleading for Sony to release the controversial film the interview, which features the fictional assassination of North Korea’s supreme leader, Kim Jong-un.

Romney won over the internet when he tweeted at the studio on Wednesday December 17, after they announced they were pulling the film from theater, writing:

“@SonyPictures don’t cave, fight: release @TheInterview free online globally. Ask viewers for voluntary $5 contribution to fight #Ebola.”

The movie may have been canceled but you can still see Kim Jong-un’s death scene. A version of the controversial scene was leaked during the massive Sony data hack .
