CM Punk's UFC sighing has caused fans to wonder if any other WWE stars will follow in his footsteps. In a recent interview, Chris Jericho claimed that he isn't tough enough to make the switch. However, after analyzing his accomplishments and looking back on the Jericho Vs. Goldberg backstage fight, one realizes that Y2J is only being modest.
Jericho has many different titles. They include: musician, media personality, actor, author, businessman and, most importantly, professional wrestler. Even though he has virtually assumed the role as a rock star villain for the majority of his WWE career, fans and foes alike know of his skill in the ring.
In total, Y2J has won over 30 championships. In the WWE, he is a six-time world champion. In 2013, a survey revealed that the majority of wrestling fans revere Jericho as the greatest world champion of all time.
With these kinds of titles, one would have to admit that Chris is a pretty tough guy.
This brings us to the WWE/UFC crossover started by Lesnar and Punk. However, the main man, himself, shocked fans when Jericho recently admitted that he doesn't think he has what it takes. According to Cage Side Seats, when Jericho was asked if he would join the UFC he responded:
"Hell no! Not even close. I am in show biz. I would never even consider it. I am not a tough guy. I just play one on TV."
Those of us who have kept up with the WWE know that Jericho is simply being modest.
"Jericho did have a bit of a reputation as a guy who could hold his own, largely off of tales about a fight he had with Goldberg when the former National Football Leaguer joined WWE in 2003. Either big Bill was mouthing off about Y2J or Chris still had beef from Goldberg not wanting to work with in WCW or both, but the Fozzy front man allegedly stepped to Goldberg and ended up taking him down."
For those of you who don't remember, things got pretty heated between the two. Wrestling Inc has a recap of the Goldberg/ Jericho beef:
"Jericho said that Goldberg had a bad attitude and no sense of humor. Jericho said that Eric Bishcoff and Goldberg were idiots. A friend said Goldberg had talked Jericho into the ground...[In turn] They exchanged words and Jericho put him in a headlock, which Goldberg couldn't get out of."
What do you think about the WWE to UFC crossover talks? Who else will make the switch? Do you think Jericho could handle himself? Let us know in the comment section below.
